Culture and History

On Ahrstraße stands a cast-iron hand pump from the second half of the 19th century. The former rectory at Ahrstraße 9 is a plastered building dated 1782; together with its associated farm buildings, it forms an ensemble. Near Ahrstraße 33 is a wayside cross dated 1772. At Gartenstraße 4 there is a courtyard farmstead with a plastered building dated 1870 and a half-timbered barn. Near Römerstraße 3, a door with a fanlight and cast-iron ornamentation is recorded.

The parish church of St. Sebastianus has been documented since 1316; its medieval tower has been preserved, and the church is a protected cultural monument. Near a campsite in Dorsel stands a memorial stele as part of the Path of Remembrance. The Path of Remembrance follows the Ahr from its source to its mouth and commemorates the victims of the flood.

West of Dorsel stands a cast-iron grave cross from the late 19th century. At the Stahlhütte site, the first bridge over the Ahr was built around 1633; it is still called Steinenbrücke today. Stahlhütte near Dorsel was formerly an iron and steelworks. Historically, Stahlhütte became a popular excursion destination thanks to an old-fashioned inn and landscaped grounds. The former access road to Stahlhütte is still called Steinstraße today.
