Culture and History

Dankerath is located in the elevated areas of the High Eifel. The Catholic branch church of St. Nicholas was built in 1912 and consecrated on December 9, 1913. Its exterior features round-arched windows, a three-sided choir and a roof turret with a cross. Dankerath was first documented in 1276 under the name „Danckrath von Grebenstein“. The St. Nicholas Chapel in Dankerath was first recorded in 1683.

Cycling Connections

Road cycling route 2 from Radarena am Ring runs through Dankerath. It is 60.9 kilometers long and classified as moderately difficult. Road cycling route 3 from Radarena am Ring also runs through the village; this route is 95.9 kilometers long and classified as difficult. A well-developed, paved agricultural road connection leads from Dankerath to Senscheid. The local cycling plan also took connections from Dankerath to Trierscheid, Pomster, Senscheid and Nohn into account.

Nature

At the Dreimühlen Waterfall, the sinter terrace advances about 10 centimeters into the valley every year. The path to the Dreimühlen Waterfall is not accessible.

Regional Attractions

Nohner Mühle is a former water mill outside Nohn in the Abach Valley, near the Dreimühlen Waterfall. Café Nohner Mühle is just a few meters from the Kalkeifel Cycle Route and is known for homemade cakes and fresh waffles.
