Windeck Castle was first mentioned in a document in 1174 as “Castrum novum in windeke” and served the Counts of Berg as a border fortress against the Counts of Sayn. The castle ruins are located on the Mäanderweg trail and on the eighth stage of the Natursteig Sieg trail. They stand at around 210 metres above sea level and offer a beautiful view in clear conditions.
