Rheinbach's Glass Museum is housed in the historic Himmeroder Hof and is dedicated to the art of Bohemian glassmaking and glass finishing. Rheinbach became a glassmaking center in 1947 after 200 Sudeten German families from northern Bohemia settled there. Rheinbach is also home to the Catholic parish church of St. Martin and the Protestant Church of Grace.
Nature
South of Rheinbach lies a largely continuous woodland landscape crossed by small streams and consisting mainly of oak and beech forests. A hiking route begins and ends in Rheinbach, leads through the city park, and continues along marked hiking trails into the forest south of the city.
Geographical Location
Rheinbach is located in the Rhein-Sieg district of North Rhine-Westphalia, about 18 kilometers west of Bonn city center and about 50 kilometers south of Cologne.
The ruins of Tomberg are located near Rheinbach. The Rungis Meckenheim Eiffel Tower is located in the surrounding area of Rheinbach. In the wider regional surroundings of Rheinbach are the Rheinisches Landesmuseum Bonn, the Electoral Palace, the Drachenfels, and the Großer Ölberg. Blitzenberg and Petersberg are also located in the vicinity of Rheinbach.
Getting There
Rheinbach railway station is located on the Voreifel Railway; the S23 operates on the Bonn–Rheinbach–Euskirchen–Bad Münstereifel route.
