Getelo stretches along the German-Dutch border. Mander and Vasse in the municipality of Tubbergen are neighboring Dutch towns of Getelo.
Söven Pölle in Getelo is designated as a nature reserve. The enclosed area is covered with heathland and juniper bushes. At the same time, Söven Pölle is a prehistoric archaeological monument consisting of seven burial mounds. It is located on a side road between Getelo and Itterbeck.
The former moorland areas in Getelo and Itterbeck were drained and cultivated at the end of the 1950s. Areas where peat was once extracted are now fertile meadows and arable land.

On site, directional signs help cyclists navigate the routes. The Uelsen–Getelo–Halle route leads through juniper bushes, woodland and wide-open fields to the Lönsberg observation tower.
Three rural adventure routes run around Uelsen, mostly along rideable gravel paths through meadows, forests and fields. The three rural adventure routes are integrated into the regional cycling junction network. They are designed to be combined and planned individually.
