Built in 1830, the Eicklinger Amtshof formerly served as the district bailiff’s office. The historic Amtshaus developed from the floor plan of a Lower Saxon farmhouse. At the beginning of the 19th century, it had wallpaper from Paris, extensive stables, an apartment for the court bailiff, a prison and a bakehouse. Its features thus ranged from Parisian wallpaper to the rooms and buildings of everyday life at the time.
Since 2005, the Eicklinger Amtshof has housed the Lower Saxony Information and Competence Center for Rural Areas. People involved in rural development planning, local residents, planners, specialists, and staff from administrations and public authorities meet there to learn and exchange ideas. The oldest granary in the Südheide stands in Paulmannshavekost, where visitors can view it.
