Faßberg is situated in an expansive landscape of forests and heathland. The Heidschnuckenweg connects the town with the surrounding area in two stages: Stage 9 runs for approximately 7 km from Müden (Örtze) via Poitzen to Faßberg. In the wider Südheide Nature Park, there are 10 cycling tours with a thematic focus, 23 themed circular hiking trails, five adventure trails and 13 bridleways. In the wider Südheide Nature Park, you can also rent a canoe to experience the park from the water.
Regional foods promoted in the wider Südheide Nature Park include roasted Heidschnucke, heath potatoes, game, honey and smoked trout.
