Festivals throughout the year

Markt Einersheim celebrates its four-day church fair every year on the third weekend in September. Special church services are held on Sunday and Monday. On Monday and Tuesday, the clubs’ processions to pay homage in front of the castle are part of the program. The fairground hosts brass band music and dancing; the citizens’ shooting competition takes place on Tuesday afternoon. The cherry blossom market in Markt Einersheim is held every year on Ascension Day. Even outside the main church fair festivities, the fortified church regularly provides a backdrop for smaller markets and concerts. There are thus several recurring events, each with its own place in the calendar.

Townscape and history

In the historic town center, Franconian half-timbered buildings, townhouses and the castle form a remarkable ensemble with two gate towers dating from the 14th century. The gate towers make a striking impression on this townscape, shaped over time; the half-timbered buildings, townhouses and castle are also defining features. The remains of Speckfeld Castle are located on Schloßberg, Markt Einersheim’s highest elevation at 423 m. From the Vogelsang balcony, visitors can enjoy a view of Einersheim and the Speckfeld ruins protected from the weather. The town center, gate towers and castle ruins offer different points of connection for exploring the town’s history.

Hiking trails and landscape

A network of well-marked hiking trails extending about 34 km runs around Markt Einersheim. Twelve themed panels explain distinctive features of the nature and landscape around the town. The TraumRunde starts in Markt Einersheim at the market square. A circular route of around 14 km also runs through the surrounding area; it has no difficult sections. These details describe different options: a network of hiking trails around the town, a route starting at the market square and a single circular route in the immediate area. The themed panels have their own focus on nature and landscape.

More to discover in the wider Kitzingen destination

The wider Kitzingen destination offers further sights and activities. The Falterturm, formerly called the “Falltorturm,” was built from 1469 to 1496 as a watchtower in the outer town wall. The Old Main Bridge, also known as “Pippinsbrücke,” has medieval origins and was first mentioned in a document in 1300. Kitzingen’s town hall on the market square is a historic 16th-century building, constructed by Hans Eckart von Schaffhausen in the Renaissance style. The 39-meter-high Market Tower was originally part of the inner town wall and served as a watchtower and prison. For family outings, the Kitzingen outdoor pool on Mondsee Island is open from May to September; it features a 50-meter swimming pool, an 80-meter water slide and a diving tower. These destinations are part of the wider Kitzingen destination and should be distinguished from the local features of Markt Einersheim.
