“In Ampère’s Footsteps” is a specific route through the town: the circular hiking trail is 8.7 km long.
When travelling to Saint-Germain-au-Mont-d'Or, the desire to rent a holiday apartment may be the main focus.
Activities
On the banks of the Saône, the Yacht Club du Rhône is a base for nautical leisure activities. Sailing dinghies, motorboating, canoeing and kayaking, as well as water skiing, are practised there. On Saturday afternoons, the Yacht Club du Rhône also runs a sports school for young beginners in sailing.
Since 2018, Saône Ride Nautique has been offering activities such as wakesurfing and wakeboarding in Saint-Germain-au-Mont-d'Or.
History and Culture
The Château Fort – Tour Médiévale is a 12th-century castle built by the Archbishop of Lyon, Regnaud de Forez. It crowns a hill overlooking the Saône. The site is opened during the European Heritage Days and for occasional events.
The Eglise Saint Germain is a remodelled former castle chapel. It has a Romanesque choir, a rib-vaulted apse, a 15th-century chapel and a modern nave.
The Cimetière Britannique was established in 1917 to bury British soldiers who were in transit or had fallen ill or been wounded on the French front. Around one hundred dead are buried in the cemetery.

Pianissimes is one of two music festivals held in Saint-Germain-au-Mont-d'Or every year.
