Sarcey: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Today, the Voie du Tacot runs for 24 kilometres from Liergues to Sarcey, following the route of the former railway line that connected Villefranche with Tarare.

Sarcey’s elevated location offers numerous views of the Jura, the Alps and the foothills of the Massif Central.

The rural landscape combines meadows, grain fields and vineyards, whose production benefits from the AOC Beaujolais designation.

Paths and activities

The La boucle de la Madone circular trail crosses the Pierres Dorées area along paths near the vineyards and small country roads, offering beautiful panoramas of the surrounding ridges. Halfway along the circular trail, the de la Madone landscape viewpoint offers a 180-degree panorama stretching from the Monts de Tarare to the villages of the Pierres Dorées.

The circular trail is marked with PDIPR trail markers consisting of wooden posts and yellow directional signs.

The Les portes sud du Beaujolais cycle route passes through Sarcey.

Culture and history

The Borne armoriée, located near the circular trail, served to mark the boundaries of the municipalities of Le Breuil, Légny and Sarcey and dates from the late 15th or early 16th century.

The Tilleul centenaire de Sully, which dates from the 17th century, is also located near the circular trail.

Gardens

The Jardin des Eaux covers approximately one hectare and contains more than 550 roses, complemented by perennials, shrubs, irises, peonies and hellebores.

It is a botanical, idyllic and historic garden on the grounds of a former spa establishment dating from the period between 1858 and 1914.
