Robion: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In the old village of Robion stands the 12th-century Romanesque Notre-Dame de la Nativité church. The Chapelle du Rosaire dates from 1656. The old bell tower incorporates the remains of the 13th-century Saint-Pierre church; one of the bells bears the year 1489.

Built in 1633, the Chapelle Saint-Roch houses the Saint-Roch tourist information office, which provides advice on cycling and mountain biking routes as well as providers with the “Accueil Vélo” label. The chapel is also used as a venue for exhibitions and cultural events. The Chapelle Notre-Dame-des-Anges in Robion was probably built in the mid-17th century and restored in 1994. Its lintel bears the year 1709, which probably indicates a renovation phase of the building.

Construction of the Chapelle des Pénitents blancs in Robion was completed in 1606, and the penitents’ brotherhood moved in in 1607. Today, the chapel is fully integrated into a private residence. Robion’s lime kiln was built within a limestone quarry at the Théâtre de Verdure, first fired to produce lime in April 1860, and restored in 1997.

The Théâtre de Verdure was created by transforming a former quarry into a cultural venue. Every summer, it hosts concerts, performances and festivals.

Cycling

The EV8 cycle route begins in the village of Robion, follows the Calavon Valley and ends at the foot of the Luberon. The Robion–Lagnes–L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue cycle route starts in the town centre and passes through agricultural areas, along orchards and canals. At the Canal de Carpentras, there are walking and cycle-route opportunities along small bridges.

The Draille de Robion begins next to the Théâtre de Verdure; the botanical educational trail also starts there.

Landscape and Hiking

A rather dizzying staircase leads to the Source de l’Escanson. The hike to the Rochers de Baude and the Crâne de Colombier is a challenging 7.3-kilometre circular route with 489 metres of elevation gain through a landscape of rock faces and rock shelters.

The Source de Boulon is almost dry in summer and comes back to life after rain. Crested tits, butterflies and flowering meadows can be found there. The spring is popular with walkers.

Food and Wine

La Roumanière is an artisan confectionery in Robion that produces jams, biscuits and honey in workshops in Robion and Avignon. All year round, it offers guided tours of the production workshops and free tastings.

Domaine des Peyre offers wine tastings, an art trail and a 9th-century chapel amid the vineyards.
