The Sentier du Chêne aux Loups is a 15.03 km circular hiking trail, taking approximately 3 hours and 45 minutes, marked in green. It passes through sunken lanes, bocage countryside, vineyard slopes and woodland, and passes rural heritage sites such as washhouses, châteaux, typical farmhouses, churches and wayside crosses.

The circular walk Promenons-nous à Vihiers runs past the Chapelle Saint-Jean, which was built by Foulques V in 1115.

Nature

The Étang du Lys is a landscaped natural area in Vihiers for outdoor stays. It bears the “Parcours Pêche Famille” label and is suitable for an easy introduction to fishing. The pond has a children’s playground, a secure jetty, sanitary facilities and picnic tables.

Water and Recreation

The Centre Aqualudique Lysséo comprises three pools: a 25-metre competition pool with five lanes, a teaching pool and a 40 m² paddling pool for children aged 0 to 4. There is also a relaxation area with a sauna and hammam.

History and Culture

Following the award decision of 10 July 1862, the complex became a hospital foundation known as the Hospice Maupassant. According to historical working dating, the Château fort Saint-Hilaire fortress was built by Foulques Nerra around 1010–1016; the motte remains.

At the Château de Maupassant, the three ground-floor rooms and the two basement rooms were renovated. The first floor now houses a 175 m² room for concerts and exhibitions, an archive room and sanitary facilities.
