La Limouzinière – Château de la Touche and Wine Landscapes

La Limouzinière combines puzzles, heritage and wine landscapes into different forms of exploration. The La Limouzinière Heritage Trail offers puzzles accessible to the whole family via the Baludik app, inviting visitors to explore the local surroundings. Those who prefer to travel without a smartphone can also complete the trail in paper form. This provides two media for the same way of discovering the local surroundings.

Heritage and Puzzles

The grounds of Château de la Touche can be visited freely and free of charge all year round. Its gatehouse building is considered the oldest architectural heritage site in La Limouzinière. In addition, the Château de la Touche heritage adventure trail offers two playful versions lasting either one or two hours. The two lengths focus on different time frames without changing the trail’s thematic core.

The adventure trail uses observation of the surroundings and the information panels along the heritage route to solve puzzles about local history. In this way, it combines careful observation on site with information about the past. The trail can be followed all year round. For personal day planning, the medium, duration and season can therefore be considered as separate features.

Vineyards and Historical Objects

East of the centre of La Limouzinière, walkers can stroll through the vineyards and observe the wine landscapes as they change with the seasons. The landscape changes in appearance over the course of the year, while the paths through the vines form the spatial focus of this experience.

At the entrance to La Limouzinière, a tower of the former Moulin du Chaffault can be seen among the vineyards. A long-shaft press is also on display near the former Moulin du Chaffault. It is a type of lever press that was commonly used in the region until the Second World War. The tower refers to the former mill, while the press represents a historical form of processing; together, the two objects complement the observation of the wine landscape with tangible traces of the past.
