Joué-Sur-Erdre: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Lac de Vioreau is a 182-hectare reservoir created between 1833 and 1836. It is located in a classified protected natural area and is the largest navigable inland body of water in the Loire-Atlantique département.

Nature

Swimming and various water sports are possible at Lac de Vioreau, including sailing, stand-up paddleboarding and canoeing. At the Vioreau site, there are shaded picnic tables, toilets, showers and a snack bar.

Culture and history

The Vioreau feeder canal was completed in 1837 and crosses four valleys via aqueducts, including the Gué de la Roche Aqueduct with 10 arches.

At Château de Lucinière, the chapel, orangery and wood-panelled dining room have been listed as historic monuments since 9 December 1985. The foundation stone of the Église Saint-Léger was laid in 1883, the first part of the church was blessed in 1884, and four new bells were consecrated in 1889.

The Bel Air mill was known for the quality of its buckwheat flour, which was used as the basis for making Breton galettes. The Notre-Dame-des-Langueurs Chapel was built in 1637 on the Vioreau heath and represents the origin and development of this locality; its Pietà has been classified as a historic monument since 1928.

Activities

The Parcours Permanent d’Orientation in Joué-sur-Erdre is an orienteering course near Lac de Vioreau. Vioreau Parcours Aventure offers orienteering routes on foot and by mountain bike.

The 275-kilometre La Régalante cycling route passes through Joué-sur-Erdre and connects Mont-Saint-Michel in Normandy with Nantes in Pays de la Loire.
