Hiking and Water
Around Bonnoeuvre, two circular hiking trails begin at the church car park: the “Le vieux pont du moulin” circular hiking trail is 9 km long, while the “Circuit des Layons de l’Erdre” circular hiking trail covers 12 km.
The Plan d’eau de Bonnoeuvre is located within the municipality of Bonnoeuvre, covers approximately 1 hectare, and is an extension of the Erdre River. Culture and History
The Prieuré Saint-Martin has a dovecote associated with the former monastic estate. The Prieuré Saint-Martin is now privately owned, cannot be visited, and can be seen from the road. The Prieuré de Bonnœuvre is documented as early as 1073.
The Pont de Bonnœuvre is a stone bridge with three arches and was built in 1748. It replaced the wooden footbridge used before 1748, which was repeatedly swept away by the Erdre’s winter floods.
Traditions
The Chêne aux Clous du Pâtisseau has a diameter of more than four metres; its age is estimated at 400 to 500 years. This tree is already documented in local written records for the year 1742.
A traditional healing ritual is associated with the Chêne aux Clous du Pâtisseau: walk around the tree seven times clockwise, drive a nail into the trunk, recite a Pater Noster and an Ave Maria, and cross yourself three times. The ritual is said to cure boils.
