Culture and history
The Château de Maisons is located on the Seine and faces the Forest of Saint-Germain-en-Laye. François Mansart designed the Château de Maisons, whose construction lasted from 1632 to 1646. The château is an architectural masterpiece of the Grand Siècle.
Equestrian sports and historic facilities
The Carrières de l’Hippodrome cover 2.6 hectares and are dedicated exclusively to equestrian sports. During the week and on Saturdays, the Carrière de l’Hippodrome is used for training horses; on Sundays, numerous competitions and events take place there, with free admission for the public. A large hippodrome in Maisons-Laffitte with permanent grandstands and a weighing pavilion was built in 1878.

The avenues and wooded plots of the Parc de Maisons-Laffitte have been designated a protected site by decree since October 1989. Along the banks of the Seine lies the 67,000 m² Coulée Verte, a popular area for walkers, anglers and sports enthusiasts. The natural areas of the Coulée Verte are maintained in a way that supports wildlife and plant life.

Pâtisserie Durand specialises in Paris-Brest and is associated with the invention of this speciality. You can also try a renowned French speciality there. Maisons-Laffitte is a stop on the Seine à Vélo cycling route.
