Guyancourt: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
In the heart of the village of Guyancourt stands the Gothic Église Saint-Victor. The church was added to the supplementary inventory of historic monuments in 1951. A charcoal mural entitled “Saint Georges terrassant le dragon” in the Église Saint-Victor was restored in January 2012. Also in the heart of the village is a former farm that was a royal farm in the 17th century and was sold as national property during the Revolution.
Anyone considering Guyancourt as a holiday destination may wish to rent a holiday apartment.
Culture and History
The Batterie de Bouviers is part of the town’s history. It dates from 1879 and belongs to Paris’s second ring of fortifications within the Séré-de-Rivières fortification system. The Batterie de Bouviers was converted into a centre for contemporary music and inaugurated in May 2007. Under the name La Batterie, it offers a year-round concert programme, rehearsal rooms and a music café.
Walking Tours and Audio Walks
The “Guyancourt et les Bâtisseurs d'avenir” walking tour begins and ends at the Église Saint-Victor. The heritage walk focuses on the architecture of the buildings, the design of the gardens and public spaces, design, and visual arts.
The “Histoires d'eaux” route includes a short 3 km loop and a long 5.5 km loop. The two circular routes follow the water and its diverse uses from the Middle Ages to the present day. “Les Bal(l)ades des Dames” are audio walks following in the footsteps of famous and lesser-known women who helped change the world.
Landscape and Urban Green Spaces
Forests and agricultural land account for 42% of Guyancourt’s 1,320-hectare municipal area. The “De par les bassins et parcs urbains” walking tour leads to the town’s ponds and the urban parks of Guyancourt.
