Culture and History

The Archéosite offers workshops on Gallo-Roman practices, including personal hygiene, clothing, coin minting and wool spinning. The Basilica of Saint-Denis is the burial place of 43 kings, 32 queens and 10 servants of the French monarchy.

The medieval garden of the Basilica of Saint-Denis includes plants, flowers and a vegetable garden; symbolic-historical and medicinal aspects are conveyed. The garden is also used for multisensory activities involving tools, plant collecting and the creation of a herbarium. The Murs à pêches in Montreuil date from the modern period, including the 18th century.

The permanent exhibition at the Mémorial de la Shoah de Drancy traces the history of the Drancy camp, the lives of the people interned there from 1941 to 1944, and the deportations from the camp from 1942 onwards. Heritage activities in Seine-Saint-Denis include walks, exhibitions, workshops, conferences and special openings. The Stade de France offers tours of its interior as well as a permanent exhibition about its history.
