Livry-Gargan showcases its special combination of natural landscape and history in the 137-hectare Parc forestier de la Poudrerie: it extends across Livry-Gargan, Sevran, Villepinte and Vaujours and preserves traces of the former gunpowder production. Forest ponds and open grasslands support a diverse range of flora and fauna; several notable bird species contributed to the park’s inclusion in the Natura 2000 network of Seine-Saint-Denis.

Culture
The Château de la Forêt is a building in the Louis XIII style, constructed by Dr Lefèvre in 1864. It bears the Île-de-France regional heritage label “Patrimoine d’intérêt régional”, is open to the public and offers exhibitions and cultural events throughout the year.
The Église Saint-Michel has a square concrete floor plan and is arranged around a large central lantern tower with a square top. The Abbey of Livry was a place of residence for the Marquise de Sévigné in the 17th century.
Nature and Trails
The Parc Lefèvre covers 9 hectares and provides space for walks and relaxation. It is home to giant California redwoods, cedars, as well as centuries-old oaks and plane trees. The Parc de la Mairie is a 4.2-hectare remnant of the Forest of Bondy, with large oak trees and a pond.
The Lac de Sévigné is a natural remnant of the former park of the Abbey of Livry. A footpath allows visitors to walk all the way around the lake. The Sainte-Marie spring building at the Lac de Sévigné has been completely restored; a light well for observing the spring and information panels about the site’s history have also been installed.
The section of the Parc forestier de la Poudrerie belonging to the Livry-Gargan area is suitable for family walks and more demanding hikes. Walking and hiking trails connect Livry-Gargan’s parks and bring the town’s cultural and historical heritage to life.
Further Activities
The Centre nautique Roger Lebas has three pools: a 25 × 15-metre swimming pool with six lanes, a smaller pool with a current channel and massage jets, and a paddling pool for children under three. The Golf de la Poudrerie course has a compact 9-hole course and practice areas and is located in the municipalities of Livry-Gargan and Sevran.
The Micro-Folie Livry-Gargan offers a free digital museum with high-resolution access to numerous works of art. It includes a FabLab with a 3D printer, digital sewing machine, vinyl cutter and scroll saw. Visitors have access to virtual reality headsets, as well as bookable themed tours of the digital museum and workshops in the FabLab.
The Médiathèque René-Cassin is open to everyone and provides opportunities to read, borrow documents, work, find information and take part in cultural events.
