One of Aubervilliers’ notable cultural monuments is the Notre-Dame-des-Vertus church. It is classified as a historic monument and houses the only organ from the early 17th century still in operation in Île-de-France. Seventeen stained-glass windows in the church depict a miracle, pilgrimages and further miracles.

The 45-metre-high chimney of the Manufacture des Allumettes has been protected as a historic monument since April 2005. Fort d’Aubervilliers was built between 1843 and 1846 as part of the fortifications intended to protect Paris and is now a place of daily life and cultural events. The Théâtre équestre Zingaro has been based there since 1989. The Zingaro theatre is where the ensemble’s performances are created and presented; they combine equestrian theatre, dance, world music, poetry and other artistic disciplines.

The Maison de culture Mazier is the last surviving testament to Aubervilliers’ agricultural past. The Théâtre de la Commune became the first Centre dramatique national in the Paris suburbs.

Le Point Fort d’Aubervilliers is a cultural venue for the creation, production, dissemination, mediation and transmission of world music and traditional forms of music and dance. Le Point Fort is open during events; it can be reached via Metro line 7 at Fort d’Aubervilliers station and via bus routes 134, 152, 173, 234, 248, 250 and 330.

L’Embarcadère hosts theatre, circus and stand-up performances, touring concerts, as well as local, community and municipal events in its auditorium.

Open venues

Les Laboratoires d’Aubervilliers provide a publicly accessible space for exhibitions and meetings in a former factory in the Quatre-Chemins district. Villa Mais d’Ici is a local cultural brownfield site and a multidisciplinary venue for the development of visual and performing arts. It offers a regular programme open to the district, with the participation of local residents.

Les Poussières is a venue for culture, meetings and creative work in Aubervilliers. It offers performances, concerts, sound-based events and workshops, including cooking activities and communal creative activities.

Film and events

Le Studio is a cinema showing current films and is classified as an art-house cinema. It screens art-house films in their original language, family films and films for very young audiences; advance screenings are also regularly offered. Moderated or accompanied screenings on various topics are regularly held there in cooperation with local and municipal organisations.

Urban landscape

Aubervilliers’ heritage cycling route offering comprises two circular routes starting from the town hall: one in the east and one in the west of the city, on either side of the Canal Saint-Denis. The right bank of the Canal Saint-Denis was transformed into an urban promenade with two parks: Aimé-Césaire Park in the south and Eli-Lotar Park in the north.
