The seigneurial château of Villemomble was built in the 18th century. It houses the town’s cultural and artistic activities; in the basement, the public can visit a lapidary museum. Those choosing Villemomble as a holiday destination may wish to rent a holiday apartment there.
Culture
The Église Saint-Louis was built between 1901 and 1958. Its bell tower is 56 metres high and crowned with 28 concrete figures. In August 2023, the bell tower was listed as a historic monument.
History
The château’s archaeological museum mainly displays objects from the late Merovingian period, dating from the 7th and 8th centuries. The foundations of a church dating from around the 7th century and a necropolis with approximately 600 burials have also been uncovered. In 1985, the Saint-Fiacre celebration became a community festival, which was moved to a weekend in September.
Nature
Parc René Martin has an elevated walkway for birdwatching. The park is also accessible to people with reduced mobility and offers a children’s play area. Parc de la Garenne is Villemomble’s largest park.
Leisure
Villemomble’s municipal swimming pool has two pools, including a 25 × 15-metre pool with five swimming lanes.
Events
The Médiathèque Robert Calméjane offers free events throughout the year. It is approximately a ten-minute walk from Le Raincy-Villemomble RER E station. On Sundays, Villemomble offers a guided heritage walk covering 3 km and lasting approximately two hours, starting at the RER station.
