The Abbaye du Lys in Dammarie-lès-Lys is a partially ruined Cistercian abbey for nuns. It was founded in 1244 by Blanche de Castille and financed by her son Louis IX, known as Saint Louis. Its remains were classified as historic monuments under a protection order dated 30 December 1930.

In 1956, the municipality of Dammarie-lès-Lys purchased the entire site of the Abbaye du Lys in order to turn it into a public garden. The Château des Bouillants is also one of the city’s cultural venues: it houses exhibitions and a branch of the media library. The exhibitions cover painting, sculpture, photography, engraving, science and history; the château is open only during exhibition periods.

The Espace Nino Ferrer is a cultural venue with a year-round programme of performing arts. This includes music, theatre, dance and performances for young audiences.
