The Église Saint-Médard was built in the 13th century and later remodelled in the 16th century. The entire church was listed as a historic monument by decree of 8 May 1930; the mural painting on the portal reveal is protected separately. Culture
Chailly-en-Brie was the residence of the naturalist Étienne Geoffroy Saint-Hilaire, founder of the menagerie at the Jardin des Plantes. He owned the municipality’s two châteaux, Voisins and La Bretonnière, and was mayor from 1816 to 1820. The sequoia at La Bretonnière is attributed to him.
