Culture
The Théâtre de Gennevilliers, also known as T2G, is a national drama centre devoted primarily to contemporary theatre production. The arrows designed by Daniel Buren serve both as signposts and works of art, all pointing towards the Théâtre de Gennevilliers.
The Galerie Édouard-Manet is known beyond the region. It presents exhibitions by young artists from the French art scene, offers independent curators free exhibition formats, and organises programmes on contemporary art for all audiences.
The foundation stone of today’s parish church of Sainte-Marie-Madeleine was laid in 1650; the building was consecrated in 1665.
Nature and Exercise
The Chemin de fer des Chanteraines visitor railway runs through the park for more than 5 kilometres. There are stops along the way where visitors can get off.
The site also includes the Ferme des Chanteraines. It offers environmental education, opportunities to discover animals, and activities aimed at raising environmental awareness.
The Les Chanteraines circular walk between Villeneuve-la-Garenne and Gennevilliers is easy, 7.9 kilometres long, and has a total elevation gain of 10 metres. It starts and ends at Gennevilliers station, served by RER C and tram line T1.
Surroundings
The Palais Bourbon is located near Gennevilliers. Also nearby are the Musée national Picasso, the Musée de Cluny and the Musée de Luxembourg, as well as the Île Saint-Louis.
The Île de la Cité park and Parc Montsouris are also located near Gennevilliers.
Local Life
There is a market every day in Gennevilliers; the city’s four markets are located in the centres of its residential neighbourhoods.
