History
Folie Desmares is a residence built in the 18th century at 17 Rue de la Gare in Châtillon. Antoine Högguer had it rebuilt around 1728 for the actress Charlotte Desmares. The historic garden included a large pond, terraces, a kitchen garden and an orangery.
The Église Notre-Dame du Calvaire was built between 1932 and 1934. It consists of a series of three domes and ends in a semicircular apse; reliefs by Marius Petit and Madeleine Froidevaux adorn its façade. It was fully listed as a historic monument by decree of 24 June 2004, except for the land on the property, parcel X 251.
The present Église paroissiale Saint-Philippe, Saint-Jacques may have replaced a 14th-century chapel. Its construction began in the 15th century and was completed around 1530.
Nature
The Coulée verte du Sud Parisien is a 12-kilometre-long green promenade from Gare Montparnasse to Massy railway station in the Essonne département. It passes through Châtillon and can be used by pedestrians and cyclists.
