The Musée national de céramique houses a reference collection of almost 50,000 works from all periods and countries, as well as contemporary works. Due to renovation work, it is temporarily closed until 2030.
Culture and History
The Manufacture de Sèvres continues its activities; its workshops are open for visits by prior reservation.
The Maison des Jardies was previously owned by Honoré de Balzac and became the home of Republican Léon Gambetta in 1878. The Maison des Jardies and its small garden are listed as Monuments historiques; the Bartholdi monument is classified as a Monument historique. In addition, the Maison des Jardies bears the “Maison des illustres” label and has been open to the public again since September 2014.
The present-day Église Saint-Romain, dedicated to the patron saint of boatmen, preserves the base of its 12th-century bell tower and 13th-century bays. The first underground quarries of Les Caves du Roi are believed to have been established in the 16th century.
Nature and Leisure
The Brimborion hill is now a protected area. The Parc de Brimborion covers almost 4.5 hectares and includes tall-grass meadows, flowering hedges, and wooded edges where tits and bats nest.
The Domaine de Brimborion is home to a pony club and a leisure center.
Water
L’Île de Monsieur has featured a water sports park inaugurated in 2007.
Sèvres - Manufacture et Musée nationaux can be reached via Métro line 9 to the “Pont de Sèvres” station, exit 2, and via tram line T2 to the “Musée de Sèvres” station.
