The Maison du Bois et de la Forêt was established in 1993 as a museographic exhibition venue in the Cité du Bois area of Mouchard. On 250 m², it presents machines and tools used in woodworking, more than 450 wood samples from around the world, and a workshop from the 1940s that is still in working order. The Maison du Bois et de la Forêt is accessible to people with reduced mobility.
Anyone wishing to combine Mouchard, the Voie des Salines and the Maison du Bois et de la Forêt on a trip may want to rent a holiday apartment.
Mouchard railway station has a TER ticket machine and bicycle parking, including a secure bicycle shelter.
Cycle paths
The Voie des Salines leads to Mouchard, connects the UNESCO saltworks of Arc-et-Senans and Salins-les-Bains, and is a 38 km-long cycle route. It crosses the Forêt de Chaux and then runs along the Loue Valley.
The Zed Jurassien is a fully signposted, 124 km-long mountain biking route whose itinerary ends either in Arc-et-Senans or Mouchard. The Mouchard option ends at a railway station from which the starting point, Saint-Laurent-en-Grandvaux, can be reached via the Hirondelles tourist railway line.
The Port-Lesney to Poligny stage of the Tour du Jura Vélo Loisirs passes through Mouchard.
Landscape
The Géologie hiking trail starts at Mouchard’s church square and passes through a Jurassic landscape of limestone and marl. A viewpoint approximately 100 m away along this trail helps visitors understand the arrangement and structure of the rock layers by observing the landscape.
Food and drink
Aux P’tits Pépins is a fruit farm in Mouchard with table grapes, orchard fruit such as pears, apples and figs, berries, sorbets, ice cream and fruit juices. Visitors can see the production and processing of fresh organic fruit there. Sales, tours and tastings are available by prior reservation.
