Charcenne: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

A special testament to the local history is the Chapelle Notre-Dame de Leffond. It contains one of the rare stained-glass windows in Haute-Saône dating from before the 16th century.

Culture and history

The Chapelle du cimetière dates from the 14th century in its main construction phase. After its nave was demolished, it was redesigned in 1867. The Chapelle du cimetière and the cemetery enclosure have been fully protected as historic monuments under a registration order dated 5 June 2002.

The present-day Château de Charcenne was built in the 18th century and restored during the Second Empire. The fully restored Chapelle Notre-Dame de Leffond was open to visitors free of charge on Sundays from mid-April to mid-September between 3 and 5 p.m.

Cuisine

The family-run Fromagerie Milleret specialises in soft cheese and produces Cancoillotte. In summer, the Fromagerie Milleret offered a free guided tour with tasting on Tuesdays at 10 a.m.; reservations were required.

The Guillaume winery has more than 43 hectares of vineyards on the slopes of the Monts de Gy; the main grape varieties are Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. In summer, the Guillaume winery organises vineyard walks starting at the wine cellar, with a snack break and wine tasting at the winery’s Caborde.

Landscape

The Chapelle Notre-Dame de Leffond stands at the edge of the village on a small hill above the Colombine stream. Cycling Loop No. 19, “des vieilles vignes”, runs through the Ognon Valley between Val Marnaysien and the Monts de Gy; its description highlights Charcenne’s wine-growing region.
