Saint-Loup-sur-Semouse lies on a wide plain at an altitude of around 250 m, where the Semouse, Augronne and Combeauté rivers converge. The Augronne flows into the Semouse upstream of the town centre, while the Combeauté flows into the Semouse a few kilometres downstream from the town centre.

Nature

At Roupoix, there is a 1.8 km circular trail that is accessible to pushchairs and people with reduced mobility. Roupoix is an area for fishing and walking. Carp fishing using the no-kill method is available there, as well as predator fishing for species including pike and pike-perch.

Tournant des Îles consists of two bodies of water with an approximate total area of 25.00 hectares. The birdlife includes European bee-eaters, swans, coots, great crested grebes and cormorants. Tournant des Îles is used by many visitors and walkers as a place of peace and relaxation; there, they can observe abundant flora and fauna.

The mountain-bike circuit “Circuit VTT – Du Planey à l'Hermitage” starts in Saint-Loup-sur-Semouse, crosses the Vôge area and passes at the foot of the mysterious Gouffre de la source du Planey with its turquoise water.

Culture

The protected features of the Château des Bouly include the façades and roofs, the interior staircase with its balustrade, and the decorated dining room on the ground floor. The listing was made by decree dated 2 March 1979.

The Conservatoire de la Cité du Meuble is now housed on the former site of the Usines Réunies. It can be visited by prior appointment.

Local Traditions

A tradition of Monday markets is documented in Saint-Loup-sur-Semouse. The organisation of the market every Monday was confirmed in 1772, 1793 and 1798. The Monday market brings together local producers, craftspeople and traders.
