Culture and history

Frasne-le-Château is home to the parish church of Saint-Antoine, which was built between 1771 and 1774 by building contractor Léonard Migret according to plans by architect Anatole Amoudru. The church contains the 17th-century painting “L'Adoration des Mages”; it was classified as a protected object in 1908.

The manor house known as “Château Mugnier” was built at the beginning of the 18th century. The year 1714 is inscribed on one of the gables. By decree of 6 September 1996, the façades and roofs of the main building, the stone staircase and the wrought-iron railing of the main building, as well as the façades and roofs of the outbuildings, were listed as protected components. The Château de Frasne is open to visitors.

Townscape and water

The fountain with washhouse (“fontaine, lavoir”) in Frasne-le-Château dates from 1833. The hexagonal fountain complex with washhouse, known as “La fontaine hexagonale et son lavoir”, is the source of the Jouanne.

Agriculture and culinary delights

The snail farm “L'escargot de Vincent et Elise” welcomes visitors for a tour of the outdoor snail enclosures. During the tour, they can learn about the operators' profession. The farm also offers tastings of processed snail products.

Art and crafts

Empreinte d'Art permanently displays works by more than 60 artists and products by 10 craftspeople in an exhibition with items for sale. In addition, Empreinte d'Art offers creative workshops and courses organised by professionals.
