Culture

A former washhouse stands at the intersection of the main road and the Route de Seilles. A wash basin was built at the Fontaine de l’Est in 1876, while the Fontaine des Carelles is located on the Chemin de la Patouillette.

La Basse-Vaivre began as a settlement established by clearing woodland, referred to as a new village in the manuscript ms 902 from the years 1567–1572. The village therefore features both older architectural details and historical references preserved in written records.

Geographical Setting

The Coney forms the municipal boundary of La Basse-Vaivre to the north and west. The Ru des Prés crosses the municipality and flows into the Coney upstream from the former Moulin des Bruaux. The Coney and the canal run below the main road of La Basse-Vaivre.

La Basse-Vaivre lies in the Pays d’Amance geographical region, which is formed by the upper catchment of the Saône. The D 207 departmental road runs through the village; the houses of this linear village are grouped along the road.

Paths

In the surrounding area, in the municipality of Passavant-la-Rochère, the approximately 3.5 km-long Voie des Tuileries was created. The Voie des Tuileries connection gives cyclists access to La Basse-Vaivre, which is listed as a site of tourist interest.

The V50–La Voie Bleue cycle route runs from Pont du Bois via La Basse Vaivre to Ormoy. The public section of the Coney from Selles to the bridge at La Basse-Vaivre is designated as a fishing stretch.

Walks in the forest of La Basse-Vaivre offer peace and nature and are suitable for strolling and relaxation.
