Saint-Florent: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The Citadel of Saint-Florent was built between 1440 and 1453. Anyone planning a stay in Saint-Florent may want to rent a holiday apartment.

Culture and history

At the heart of the citadel lies the Saint-Antoine Chapel. It was restored in 2015 and serves as a venue for exhibitions and cultural activities. The Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta in Saint-Florent probably dates from the first quarter of the 12th century. During the summer season, it can be visited thanks to supervision provided by the municipality of Saint-Florent.

Local traditions also shape the town: the Fête de Saint-Flor is celebrated in Saint-Florent every three years on Whit Monday. Catenacciu is a Corsican tradition held during the Good Friday procession, in which a Way of the Cross leads through the village. The Saint-Florent textile market takes place every first Wednesday of the month along the banks of the Aliso in the town centre.

Nature and coast

The Gulf of Saint-Florent lies at the intersection of the Agriate and Cap Corse and encompasses diverse underwater habitats as well as protected and endemic species. The reef massif at Plage de la Roya is part of a biotope protection zone described in the decree of 7 May 1998.

Plage de Tettola has an access ramp for people with disabilities as well as a Tiralo beach wheelchair for people with reduced mobility. The Sentier des Douaniers begins at Plage de la Roya in Saint-Florent. Plage de l’Aliso can be reached from the town centre via a footbridge.

On the water

Saint-Florent has had a sailing club since the early 1960s. Scuba diving is offered through local clubs in the Gulf of Saint-Florent. In Saint-Florent, Actisub offers a discovery package for beginners with three supervised introductory dives at depths of 0 to 6 metres; the minimum age is 8.

Agriates Kayak offers sea kayaking and paddleboarding tours from Plage de la Roya in Saint-Florent along the coasts of the Agriate and Cap Corse.

The Saint-Florent bus station is located at the southern exit of the town, behind the port.
