Geographical location

The entire coastline of Farinole borders the Cap Corse and Agriate Marine Natural Park. Farinole is also part of the Grand Site de France Conca d’Oru – Vignoble de Patrimonio – Golfe de Saint-Florent.

Nature

Along the A Ferrera trail, information panels provide details about plant species and local biodiversity. Since 2016, the A Ferrera trail has featured panels about endemic plants and has been designed as an educational botanical trail.

The Vecchiaia trail can be started at Catarelli Beach in Farinole. As a coastal path, it runs along the seashore through fragrant maquis and offers views of turquoise coves and limestone caves.

The Marine de Farinole has a sandy beach considered family-friendly and easily accessible.

A walking path begins at the Church of Saint-Côme-et-Saint-Damien in Farinole and leads to the former A Ferrera magnetite mine.

Culture

The Marianda Monastery was legally established in 1606; construction work continued until 1671 and resumed from 1702 to 1750. The lime kiln at Marianda Monastery was used to fire limestone into lime, which was used for the mortar in the walls of Marianda Monastery.

The Tour de Farinole is a Genoese tower dating from 1562 and has been listed as a historic monument since 23 June 1993. The Church of Saint-Côme-et-Saint-Damien in Farinole dates from the 17th century.

The Farinole-Olmeta iron mines retain mine adit entrances, fragments of Decauville rails, chutes, a hand winch and a powder magazine. The Magazini served as storage facilities for goods, including grain and animals, which residents transported by boat from the Nebbiu/Agriate plain to the Marine de Farinole.

U Scalu Vecchju was a shipyard where a half-galley was built between January and March 1762.

Local life

The Domaine Guissani Paoli winery in the Marine de Farinole is an organically farmed AOP Patrimonio winery. Domaine Guissani Paoli offers winery tours and wine sales exclusively by prior appointment.

In Farinole, the patron saints are celebrated every year on 26 September with a procession.
