In Lumio, the Tour de Caldanu stands at Punta Caldana, a square Genoese tower located within the municipality.

Culture and History

Construction of the Tour de Caldanu was completed in 1592. The tower also served to guide and protect ships seeking shelter in the bay during storms.

The Chapelle Saint Pierre et Saint Paul is a Romanesque building from the 11th century and has been classified as a historic monument since 1992 because of its exterior decoration.

U Carrubu is a massive stone building with 18th-century arcades. It was built on the initiative of Abbot Ignace Colonna de Leca to accommodate people in need and serve as a school for children.

The Annunziata chapel dates from approximately the 15th century and has been documented in the archives since 1589.

The ruins of Occi are still visible today. The ruined village of Occi lies 377 metres above Lumio.

Local Customs

A Fiera di u Pane is an annual fair celebrating the tradition of bread, culture and cultural heritage.

Plage de l'Arinella has a Genoese tower in the background and a large car park.

Nature

Punta di Spanu is home to fauna and flora, geological features, a granite quarry, paillers and a Genoese tower. The Tour de Spanu is the rounder of the two Genoese towers located within the municipality of Lumio.
