Culture and history

The Saint-Césaire Chapel in Rapale has been classified as a historic monument since 1 January 1875.

The parish church of Santa Maria Assunta in Rapale is a building of Pisan heritage and stands above the village. The church is dedicated to the Virgin Mary, who has been referred to as the “Queen” of Corsica since 1736.

The Romanesque Church of San Cesario in Rapale was built from green serpentine in the 12th century.

Hiking

The “Entre Profane et sacré” hiking route begins in the village of Rapale and is suitable for a family hike. As a marked hiking route, it leads through the chestnut grove above Rapale.

Rapale lies above the Nebbiu plain. The area of Rapale extends as far as the Désert de l’Agriate.

The fountain and washhouse “A Rapalinca” in the heart of the village of Rapale bear witness to a time when fountains were of fundamental importance to village life.
