Culture
The Romanesque Church of San Parteo was built in the 12th century on the foundations of a burial basilica dating from the 6th century. The Chapelle San Parteo is located on the southern edge of the ancient city, in the middle of a Roman necropolis.
The Baptistery of Mariana had a central baptismal font. The surviving floors include polychrome mosaics, whose motifs are predominantly inspired by depictions of the aquatic world. The Église Saint Michel was built in 1617 and features an elaborately designed Baroque interior.
The Musée de Mariana offers guided tours of its museum route on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 3 p.m.
History
The Saint François monastery already existed at the beginning of the 16th century and became part of Corsica's history in 1768 in connection with the famous Battle of Borgo. In 1769, it was set on fire by Marbeuf. Today, its charred walls stand in Lucciana's municipal cemetery.
Nature
The Chapelle San Parteo is located at the southern end of the Étang de Biguglia nature reserve.
