Donnery: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Donnery lies on the northern boundary of the Forêt d’Orléans Natura 2000 site. The Canal d’Orléans runs through the town. Anyone choosing Donnery as a holiday destination may wish to rent a holiday apartment there.
Nature and Trails
The cycle route along the Canal d’Orléans, classified as a greenway, is closed to motorised vehicles – except emergency, police and rescue services – as well as horses. The “Boucle 06 – Détour fluvial” route runs between Donnery and Mardié along the Canal d’Orléans through the green valley of the Oussance.
Culture and History
The Saint-Etienne church in Donnery dates back to the 13th century. It has two naves of unequal size and a 13th-century choir with two bays featuring rib vaults.
Château de Latingy, a château, is located in the immediate vicinity of Donnery. Château de Claireau, Château du Plessis and Château de la Motte, each a château, are also located in the surrounding area. Place du Martroi, a park, is likewise located nearby.
Château d’Allonne was built in the 15th century. Only two towers remain; one of the surviving towers was a dovecote. Villa Aurélie was built by Eugène Pénillon in 1881.
Events
The Corso Fleuri in Donnery has been held every Whit weekend since 1977. The Corso Fleuri includes parades with decorated floats and bicycles, accompanied by bandas or traditional music.
