The ruins of Fontainejean Abbey have been listed as a Monument historique by decree since 6 October 1925. The portal of the Église Saint-Maurice was also listed as a Monument historique by decree on 12 June 1926. The church has a preserved Romanesque entrance door in the gable. Of its 12th-century fabric, the portal and the southern nave pillars remain; the choir appears to date from the 13th century.
The Château de l’Infernat d’en haut was built on a plateau above the narrow valley of the Aveyron. It is said to have been built around 1150 by Renaud de Courtenay. The historic site of Abbaye Notre-Dame de Fontaine-Jean is located in the immediate vicinity of Saint-Maurice-sur-Aveyron, while the Château de Bellevue is nearby.
