Baule: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The heritage trail through Baule comprises ten stations that can be completed on foot or by bicycle. Those who choose Baule as a destination may wish to rent a holiday apartment.

Culture

The present-day Saint-Aignan Church was designed by architect Benjamin Ricard and consecrated on 2 August 1866. On the west side, it has a bell-tower portico with a stone spire. Its features include stained-glass windows depicting Abraham’s sacrifice.

A monument in front of Saint-Aignan Church commemorates Abbé Pasty and Resistance group 55 A of the Buckmaster network. There is also a monument to Abbé Pasty and Resistance group 55 A of the Buckmaster network on Rue de l’Abbé Pasty in Baule.

Townscape

The heritage trail invites visitors to discover Baule through its rural architecture. It bears witness to the area’s former orientation towards the Loire and to winegrowing. Particularly in the Baulette district, exterior staircases are part of an old tradition on compactly built winegrowers’ farms, with the living area above a cellar.

Getting around

From Baule, you can take a multi-day cycling tour along the Loire on the Loire à Vélo route. Baule railway station is located north of the RD2152 and 150 metres from the local shops. Bus route 9B connects Baule with Le Bardon, Chaingy and Orléans.

Culture and cuisine

La Corne des Pâtures welcomes visitors in Baule every day from mid-June to the end of August. It offers daily concerts, games, open-air cinema and street art. Once a week, a producers’ market takes place at La Corne des Pâtures; products from short supply chains are preferred for the food offered there.
