Douadic is part of the Parc naturel régional de la Brenne and lies on the Suin. Migratory birds occur in Douadic, including the whiskered tern and the purple heron; the local flora includes numerous orchids.

Activities

The Centre équestre et Poney-club de la Virevolte welcomes visitors in Douadic. The Le Suin, du calcaire à l'argile hiking route no. 28 starts at the church square in Douadic. It is 10 km long, marked in yellow, and has a stated walking time of 2 hours 30 minutes. The official La vallée du Suin cycling route can also be started in Douadic.

Culture and History

The Church of Saint Ambroise in Douadic features wall paintings depicting the Last Judgment and the Virgin and Child. The complex of the Church of Saint Ambroise includes a chapel dedicated to the Virgin. The parish church of Douadic preserves frescoes from the 13th and 14th centuries.

Crafts and Architectural Heritage

The Espace forge et traditions rurales complex in Douadic comprises an old forge, a bread oven and outbuildings dating from before 1816. The old forge in this complex has remained unchanged since the 19th century. Douadic's architectural heritage uses both Brenne sandstone and Boischaut limestone.

Places of Remembrance

The cemetery in Douadic contains the grave of Abbé Voisin (1829–1891), who is regarded as a historian and brilliant archaeologist. The cemetery also contains the grave of the painter Evariste Vital Luminais (1812–1891), who is described as the “painter of Gallic and Merovingian epics”.
