Unverre: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Unverre showcases its history in very different forms: the Église Saint-Martin contains five figurative stained-glass windows that have been designated as protected historic monuments.

Culture and History

The Musée-École d’Unverre is located in the building that was used as a rural school from 1830 to 1957. It includes an exhibition entitled “la maison de l’écolier”, another entitled “la classe de 1900”, and also presents “les vêtements 1900”.

The present-day Château des Grandmaisons was built in 1774, after almost all of the former buildings, walls, entrance towers and turrets had been demolished. The Parc du Château des Grandmaisons offered guided tours of the grounds and the park.

Festivals and Gatherings

The Fête de la Louée was held for the 31st time in 2023. During this edition, more than 60 vintage cars took part in a drive along the small roads of the Perche and then returned to the grounds of the Château des Grand’maisons. Stalls, a fairground ride and a flea market were set up on the church square. Another edition on the theme of the Olympics was scheduled for 9 June 2024.

Paths and Historic Sites

The Promenade des Ponts-Neufs connects the church square with the Moulins d’Unverre. It runs along the Grand’Maisons property and the Sainte-Suzanne River. On the return journey towards the village, the hiking trail in Unverre passes near the Moulin de la Forçonnerie.

La Forçonnerie was a mill and former fortress that once defended the old royal road from Chartres to Le Mans. The manor house and half-timbered barns of La Forçonnerie have been preserved.
