Le Coudray: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Le Coudray reveals its distinctive features on several levels: the landscape, paths, public spaces and history stand side by side as different facets.

Nature and paths

The coulées vertes comprise 80 hectares of green spaces and form more than 6 kilometres of hilly, tree-lined corridors. They also include 8 kilometres of dedicated paths shared by cyclists and pedestrians; 6 kilometres of these run within the green corridors.

A 2-kilometre-long promenade runs along the banks of the Eure in Le Coudray. The Parc du Gord is also located on the Eure and covers 3.5 hectares.

Hiking and cycling

The GR® de pays Vallée de l'Eure is a 160-kilometre-long hiking trail from Anet to La Loupe that passes through Le Coudray. In Le Coudray, the section leads after the Rue de Gourdez through a wooded area into the Parc de Gourdez. A cycle path also runs along the Eure between Chartres and Le Coudray. La Godasse Coudrionne is dedicated to hiking and exploring the environment.

History and culture

The Séminaire des Barbelés was founded in 1945 and accommodated more than 950 German prisoners of war, who were trained as seminarians. The murals by Franz Stock in the chapel of the Séminaire des Barbelés, as well as a Stations of the Cross created by a prisoner, have been restored. Archival images there illustrate the post-war history of the camp and the life of Franz Stock. The Church of Saint-Julien in Le Coudray dates back to the 11th century.

Public spaces and events

The Parc Etienne Bordet, also known as Parc de la Mairie, has been open to the public since 1992. The Parc des 4 Saisons has a play area for children. The Comité des Fêtes organises community events in Le Coudray, such as flea markets, historic car exhibitions and social evenings.
