Coudray-au-Perche: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Coudray-au-Perche displays its historic character particularly clearly in the Church of Saint-Pierre: its nave dates from the 12th century and is Romanesque. The chancel is higher than the nave and was built in the 15th and 16th centuries.

Culture and history

The Church of Saint-Pierre contains a stone piscina in the Renaissance style. It is framed by pinnacles decorated with crockets and crowned by a curved gable. The church also houses a statue of Saint Barbara. Every year, Saint-Pierre is splendidly decorated for the Fête des laboureurs et des ouvriers.

The Manoir de Courcelles is also part of the historic character. It dates from the 16th century, includes towers from the 12th century and overlooks the left bank of the Ronne.

Nature and landscape

The Richardières area is one of the three natural areas of Coudray-au-Perche. Protected flora grows in the Bois des Mottais, including royal fern and opposite-leaved golden saxifrage. The Bois de Montgraham is a landscape area of high scenic quality; its flora includes marsh fern, among other species.

Routes and trails

The “Les manoirs” equestrian trail starts in Coudray-au-Perche and is 20.5 kilometres long. The “Au pays des fées et des ermites” cycling loop passes the Manoir des Basses-Loges in Coudray-au-Perche.

Water and fishing

The Plan d'eau du Tertre in Coudray-au-Perche is designated as a fishing spot with a family course. Fishing there follows the no-kill principle; exceptions are rainbow trout and species classified as harmful, such as channel catfish, sunfish and American crayfish. Boats and float tubes are prohibited at the Plan d'eau du Tertre.

Food and traditions

The Ferme Auberge de l'Agneau Grillé serves traditional cuisine featuring lamb from its own breeding operation, produced on site. The Le Saint Pierre restaurant offers themed evenings; reservations are required on Friday and Saturday evenings.

The Fête des laboureurs et des ouvriers in Coudray-au-Perche takes place on the second weekend of October. In 2013, it was held for the 105th time, meaning it had existed for more than 100 years.
