The upper part of Montigny-le-Gannelon overlooks Saint-Hilaire-sur-Yerre and Cloyes-sur-le-Loir. The lower part runs along the Loir towards Saint-Hilaire-sur-Yerre and Cloyes-sur-le-Loir.

The Parc et Plan d’eau des Tirelles, jointly used by Montigny-le-Gannelon and Cloyes-sur-le-Loir, features a fitness trail, information boards about birds, fauna and flora, as well as benches and picnic tables.

History and Architectural Heritage

Visible remains of Montigny-le-Gannelon’s medieval fortifications are still preserved, including the Porte Roland, a former guard post and several turrets. The Porte Roland once provided access to Montigny-le-Gannelon from Châteaudun.

The Église Saint-Sauveur / Saint-Gilles was rebuilt at the end of the 16th and beginning of the 17th century on Romanesque foundations. The church houses a wooden reliquary dating from 1828 containing the relics of Saint Félicité, depicted in a wax figure.

The Château de Montigny-le-Gannelon is a Renaissance château set in a 15-hectare park. The grounds of the Château de Montigny-le-Gannelon are ideal for walking. A tour of the Château de Montigny-le-Gannelon takes visitors through the Salon des Dames, the grand salon, the billiards room and the kings’ dining room.

Activities

The Parc et Plan d’eau des Tirelles, jointly operated by Cloyes-sur-le-Loir and Montigny-le-Gannelon, is open year-round for walking, fishing and mountain biking. The “Le château de Montigny-le-Gannelon: circuit n°4” loop is an easy 45-km mountain biking route.
