Saint Rémi Church houses a 15th-century triptych classified as a protected cultural object, which was restored in 1963.

Culture and History

Saint Rémi Church is built of local stone and sandstone; its structure was altered in the 16th century. The first section of the nave recalls a medieval sanctuary dedicated to Saints Rémi and Thibault; the church was considerably expanded in the 13th century.

The washhouse of Faverolles is also part of the village's historic character. It is located at a site shaped by springs that was historically used for washing clothes. Traditionally, drinking water was drawn from the main spring, which was valued for its quality and purity.

A tree in the surroundings of Faverolles was locally called the “arbre de Jean Valjean”.

Another local connection is the Faverolles chicken breed, which originated in Faverolles in the Eure-et-Loir département. It was developed from the Houdan in the 1860s and was crossbred several times. Historically, Faverolles chickens were delivered in large quantities under the name “Faverolles” to the nearby capital, Paris.

Trails and Landscape

There are three published circular trails in Faverolles, offering the opportunity to discover the village's hamlets, flora and fauna. The circular trail “Sous le Bois du Groussay” has a stated duration of 2 hours, “Autour du Bois du Tuilay” takes 2 hours and 15 minutes, and “Le Tour des Grés Rouges” takes 4 hours.

The surroundings of Faverolles consist, among other things, of woods, forests and fields, providing a habitat for a diverse range of animal and plant life. In addition, the Parcours Découverte Faverolles, les personnalités de Faverolles is a short, themed, walkable interpretive trail for exploring the history and cultural heritage of the municipalities.
