Saint-Dolay: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The natural areas of Saint-Dolay include the Marais de Vilaine Natura 2000 protected area and the Marais du Roho: within the municipality, Marais de Vilaine covers 659 hectares; Marais du Roho is a Natura 2000 peat bog inhabited, among others, by otters, kingfishers and typical wetland plants.

Nature

A footpath approximately 3 kilometres long runs around Étang de Kernevy. The pond is used by walkers and anglers.

The Site du Rocher offers a viewpoint over Marais du Roho and the surrounding area; it can be reached via the Chemin des Mules. The Circuit de Buttes en Marais starts in the town centre and leads through the classified natural areas of La Corodais and Roho.

The Domaine de la Corodais includes a recently established arboretum. From Pont de Cran, visitors can experience the banks of the Vilaine with their extensive marsh meadows and drainage ditches.

History and Architectural Heritage

The present-day church of Saint-Dolay was completed in 1889. Its bell tower collapsed on 1 January 1895 and was replaced in 1925. The present-day Notre-Dame de l’Immaculée Conception church replaced an older church that had already been mentioned since the 11th century.

The Chapelle Sainte-Anne is a listed chapel dating from the 16th century and an example of Breton Flamboyant Gothic. Its elaborate furnishings are considered evidence of a pilgrimage that was very popular in the Middle Ages.

Saint-Dolay Town Hall is located in a former presbytery; the tower of this building dates from 1696, while the building itself dates from 1717.

Local Life and Events

The Marché à la Ferme de Bodelneuf takes place on Wednesdays from 5 to 7 p.m. Local producers’ goods, as well as products from craftspeople in Saint-Dolay and the surrounding area, are offered there.

The show nautique held on 8 June 2025 at Étang de Kernevy featured, among other things, hydroglider races and an exhibition about fishing with a simulator. The sixth edition of Vilaine en Fête included a lunchtime stop for the historic boats at Port de Cran in Saint-Dolay on 9 May.
