Le Courégant is home to Plage du Courégant, a fine-sand beach between rocks along the coastal road.

Plage du Courégant has toilets, including accessible toilets, showers and drinking water stations. The beach is used for swimming; swimming is not supervised. Remnants of the Atlantic Wall shape the historic surroundings of Plage du Courégant.

History

The port of Le Courégant is sheltered from westerly winds in a small bay. The slipway at Le Courégant was built in 1894 to bring fish in for unloading; the fish was processed at the Fleury (Perello) cannery.

Behind the port of Le Courégant, an imposing menhir has stood for 5,000 years. At 4.70 metres high, this menhir is the tallest monolith in the municipality.

Le Castel is a former fort at the tip of Le Courégant. It was built in 1789, sold by the state in 1879 and subsequently transformed into a villa with medieval and Moorish architecture.

Fort-Bloqué is a fort in the immediate vicinity of Le Courégant. Menhir de Kermario, an ancient site, is located near Le Courégant. Fort de Locqueltas and the Citadelle de Port-Louis, both forts, are also nearby, as are the beaches of Plage de Kerguélen, Plage de Larmor, Plage de Toulhars and Plage de Bellangenet.
