La Grée-Saint-Laurent: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
La Grée-Saint-Laurent is home to the parish church of Saint-Laurent, whose main construction phase dates back to 1901. Its masonry is made of granite and dressed stone, and the floor plan is in the shape of a Latin cross. The church dates from the 20th century and replaced an older building from the 15th century.
Culture and History
The village of Saint-Sébastien is home to the Saint-Sébastien Chapel, which features an altarpiece from the early 19th century. A fountain associated with the chapel is dedicated to Saint Sebastian. According to local tradition, the Saint Laurent Fountain is associated with healing effects for skin problems.
The Cross of Bieux was blessed on 2 July 1992. The war memorial depicts a standing soldier in a blue horizon uniform and was funded and erected in 1922 by survivors of the First World War.
Landscape and Nature
The Ninian River forms the eastern boundary of La Grée-Saint-Laurent, while the Galourais stream forms the southern boundary. The Forêt de Lanouée is home to around 14 bird species as well as the European otter. In the territory of La Grée-Saint-Laurent, the forest is designated as a type II ZNIEFF.
Paths and Local Offerings
A circular trail starting from Saint-Maudé runs through La Grée-Saint-Laurent and is 9 kilometres long for hiking. Le Galouray offers cooking workshops on site, including making pasta or bread with flour produced there. Les Floralis is located in a former 18th-century cider house.
Geographical Location
The RN24 expressway is located approximately 6 kilometres from the town centre. La Grée-Saint-Laurent is no longer served by a bus route; the demand-responsive RIV TàD service is intended to be expanded to adapt to demand.
