Férel: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Férel lies on the southern shore of the Vilaine estuary. Its geographical location connects the town with a landscape in which bodies of water, wet habitats and wooded areas are closely intertwined.

Nature

The natural habitats in Férel are characterised by forests, hedgerows, meadows and marshlands. There are also more than 174 recorded ponds. Seven amphibian species have been recorded in Férel, six of which are protected. They include the marbled newt, the European tree frog and the agile frog.

Almost 10 percent of Férel's area consists of habitats of European, regional or local interest. The habitats mentioned include wet heaths with cross-leaved heath and bell heather.

Hiking

The “Rand’O au fil de l’eau Number 4” route is 6.2 kilometres long and takes two hours. It is not marked and begins on Rue du Moulin at the junction with the path. The route passes through wet forests from pond to pond, past black alders, royal ferns and small streams; with a little luck, you may spot a fire salamander.

The “Les bords de Vilaine – Férel” hiking trail is marked in yellow. Trail-marking stones and signposts show hikers the way. The “Les bords de Vilaine – Férel–La Roche-Bernard” route passes through the wooded slopes of Férel and offers views of the water through the foliage.

Culture

The church in Férel contains the 16th-century stained-glass window “Arbre de Jessé”. The window is classified as a protected object; the protection was decreed on 7 March 1932. It consists of nine tall rectangular panels arranged in three rows of three panels each.
