Bubry is crossed by three waterways; most of Bubry lies within the Blavet catchment area.

Landscape and Trails

The Circuit du Brandifrout crosses streams and leads through the wild Brandifrout Valley along sunken lanes and forest paths. Bubry offers walking and cycling routes from 5 to 30 km; four circular routes have been awarded the VTT/FFC label.

The Circuit de Saint-Clément offers insights into Bubry’s rural heritage, including traditional houses, fountains, and bread ovens.

Culture and History

The Chapelle Saint-Yves in Bubry has been protected as a historic monument by decree of 12 May 1925. Its first construction probably dates from the second half of the 14th century. An extensive building campaign was carried out during the last quarter of the 16th century; the year 1589 can be read on the outer tympanum of the door of the southern transept. The chapel houses a reliquary arm dated 1615 and a bronze church chandelier from 1616.

Traditions

Bagad Sant Ewan Bubri is a traditional Breton music ensemble. Breton is still spoken and sung in Bubry at traditional Breton evening events.

The Pardon de Saint-Yves takes place on the last Sunday in May and includes a traditional competition featuring the sonneurs and dancers of the Pays Pourlet.

Experiences

At the Jardin d'Iris, 2,000 iris varieties can be discovered across one hectare in May. It showcases a collection of irises from around the world. During the flowering season from May to early June, it is open daily from 2 to 7 p.m., including weekends and public holidays; admission is free, and guided tours are available by appointment.

Bubry can be reached via the four-lane N165; take the Caudan exit, drive to Plouay, and then follow the D2.
